Question: What Do I Wear For My Classes?

EPAT Answer:

For Pole: Bare skin is needed to grip the pole so wear shorts and a supportive bra and top. No footwear or jewelry and please refrain from putting any creams on the skin that day. Pole leggings, gloves and grips can be purchase directly from the studio if required.

For Aerial Hoop:

Leggings or jogging bottoms, supportive bra and top/hoodie. Preferably thick clothing as friction burn is common. Socks or leg warmers to avoid burns or bruising of the ankles/feet.

For Children:

Loose fitting clothing is recommended with multiple layers if possible. Legs and arms should be covered to protect from discomfort. We sell our own line of Essex Pole & Tone / MGM Movement children's clothing, including onesies which are highly recommend as the thick padding helps protect and keep warm while also aiding safe spotting techniques.

For Aerial Silks:

Close fitting clothing that covers your legs, torso and arms is recommended as this will help to protect the skin and reduce friction burns. Leggings, long sleeve tops, sports bra, jumpsuits etc.

For Pole Heels:

Pole dancing specific style heels and/or boots (such as pleasers, hella heels) are required for heels classes, this is because the design of the shoe, the platform and the angled fronts are specifically made to make dancing easier with more support and comfort than your average high heel. As a bonus they will make your legs look longer!

Question: Do I Need Any Experience To Start?

EPAT Answer:

Not at all! Our beginner classes are designed to be suitable for complete newbies. We welcome and cater to all types of people regardless of background, fitness level, size or age! We’ll guide you through the basics step by step — no prior dance or fitness experience is necessary.

Question: Do I Need To Be Strong Or Flexible To Start?

EPAT Answer:

Nope! Strength and flexibility are things we build over time. You’ll notice improvements quickly — just show up and trust the process! We also offer specific Flexibility and Conditioning classes for those looking to progress further!

Question: What If I Miss A Class Or Need To Cancel?

EPAT Answer:

We have a 48 hours minimum cancellation notice on all classes otherwise the cost of the class will still be required/will be lost from your course. Classes can be swapped with 48 hour notice as long as spaces are available in the requested alternative class. Furthermore, ALL payments are due for the next course on the 4th lesson of a course to reserve your place in the course, as a two week cancellation policy. Quitting or cancelling on the day of next course payment/start date will result in full course (4 weeks) payment being due. 1 to 1 bookings are considered final. It is possible for 1 to 1 bookings to be held for up to (no more than) four weeks in lieu at the instructors complete discretion. All payment is considered final, refunds will not be given once paid. However, if cancellation is made it is may be possible, depending on the circumstances, to receive the value back in the form of an Essex Pole & Tone gift voucher to spend within the studio on courses or products. This is at the discretion of Essex Pole & Tone management. These vouchers can also be gifted to a friend or family member.

Question: Can I Take Photos Or Videos During Class?

EPAT Answer:

We encourage celebrating your progress! Just make sure it’s done respectfully and doesn’t interfere with others' experience. Instructor permission is required for filming during class. Make sure you are not filming with anyone in the background without their permission. Do not post photos or videos to social media if someone is in the background and has not consented.
